Root Beer Barbecue Sauce
You can use any type of Root Beer for this sauce. I’ve used A&W Root Beer for this Barbecue Sauce before. This time I happened to find IBC at the end of an aisle, so IBC was the Brand of the day

This Root Beer Barbecue Sauce is great on anything and everything including Chicken and Ribs.

The recipe calls for about 3 cups of Root Beer, but that cooks down quite a bit. You’ll really end up with about 8 oz. of sauce.

Here’s my recipe for this yummy Root Beer Barbecue Sauce…

Root Beer Barbecue Sauce
Ingredients
- 3 cups root beer
- ½ cup ketchup
- ¼ cup yellow mustard
- ¼ cup white wine vinegar
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
- ½ tsp. garlic powder
- ½ tsp. paprika Spanish paprika or Smoked are both great flavors
- 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over med/high heat, add the root beer
- Boil for about 10 minutes until the soda has reduced and thickened a bit
- See notes below about boiling and reducing root beer
- Lower the heat to a simmer, and add the rest of the ingredients – whisking everything together
- Continue to simmer for about 30 more minutes or until the sauce is thickened to your liking

 Reducing Root Beer- The root beer will bubble right away as you pour it into the saucepan. This is just the gases rising to the surfaceÂ
- To get root beer to a boiling point, it will probably take about 5 minutesÂ
- Once it is at a boiling point – start your timer. It will take 10-15 minutes of boiling to reduce
- The reduced color will be much darker and the liquid will be slightly thickerÂ
