These festive hot dogs are perfect for patriotic holidays like the Fourth of July, Memorial Day and Labor Day. This fun treat is sometimes called a Sparkler Hot Dog, Firecracker Hot Dog or even a Fireworks Hot Dog. Whatever you call it…It’s Patriotic fun on a Stick!

Ingredients
- Crescent rolls
- Hot dogs
- Colby Jack Cheese
Equipment
- 16 wooden skewers soaked in water
- Star cookie cutter – about 2 inches wide
How Do You Make Sparkler Hot Dogs
- Place hot dogs on skewers, pushing the skewer over the tip, exposing about 2 inches.
- take a strip of crescent dough and wrap the hot dogs in a spiral pattern
- bake for about 10 minutes or until the dough is cooked through and golden
- Make star-shaped cheese from Colby-Jack cheese and star cookie cutters.
- Place the cheese stars on top of the baked hot dog skewers

These firecracker hot dogs are perfect for a patriotic party or a fun summer treat.
FAQs
You can poke the end of the skewer in a Styrofoam ball and place it in a decorative tin bucket or use rice or dry corn as a filler. Pour the filler in a vase and push skewers into the dried rice or corn.
I would not recommend making these ahead of time. Serve these almost immediately while they are still warm.

Firecracker Hot Dogs {A Fun Patriotic Food Idea}
Equipment
- 16 wooden skewers soaked in water
- Star cookie cutter – about 2 inches wide
Ingredients
- 16 oz. crescent dough 2 rolls – 16 crescent rolls total
- 16 hot dogs
- 2 lb. block of Colby Jack Cheese
Instructions
- *Before starting – soak your wooden skewers in water for about 10 minutes or more so they don’t scorch
- Unroll the dough and cut 1 inch strips
- Cut those in half, so they are about 8 inches long
- Skewer the hot dogs, pushing the skewer through the top so that about 2 inches is exposed above the hot dog
- Wrap the hot dogs with the crescent dough in a spiral so there are gaps exposing pieces of the hot dog
- Pinch the ends to seal them
- Line a piece of baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper
- Place hot dogs on lined baking sheets
- Bake at 375 degrees for 9 minutes or until the dough is cooked through and golden
- While those are baking, cut 1 inch slices off of the block of cheese
- Push the star cookie cutter into the pieces of cheese making 16 cheese stars
- When the hot dogs are baked, add the stars to the top
