We love having fun with fruit at our house. In the past, we’ve made fun food art like strawberry snake kabobs and pumpkin-shaped fruit cups, and fruit cup reindeer noses. Recently, I’ve decided that I need to create some more fun ideas for kids in the kitchen, and I started with this cantaloupe fruit art palette.

Jids will have a blast eating their fruits and veggies when you display them in a fun way. Even the pickiest of eaters will have fun with this colorful fruit display. You can change the fruit to any other fruit you think your kids will enjoy. It’s easy to customize this fun with food, fruit, or snacks for whatever your kids love to eat.

Slice down the side of the cantaloupe, avoiding the core.

sliced cantaloupe

Pick a slice from your sliced cantaloupe you think is a good base, and carve out a place where the palm would go on an art palette.

Use a fruit corer or something similar to core out a circle where the thumb would go on an art palette.

Set your cantaloupe palette onto a serving plate and arrange fruit around the palette to represent paint colors.
