The images at the top do not have the fish tucked into the Jell-O. I have mixed feelings about adding the fish. I think it’s really cute but not at all necessary. If you do decide to add a fish to your “ocean water”, do it right before serving or it will get mush and gross.
It’s super cute, with or without the fish.
Tips for Adding a gummy fish to your Jell-O cups…
- Don’t add the fish until just before serving – otherwise, it gets mush and will also change the color of the blue to purple.
- Using a sharp knife, cut a slit into the top of the Jell-O cup to insert the fish.
- Insert the fishtail first.
- You can completely submerge the gummy fish or let it peak its’ head out like it’s jumping.
Tips for adding decorations to the top of your Jell-O cup…
- you can add the decorations to the top of your Jell-O cup several hours before serving – there will be minimal moisture transferred
- do not cover the cup before storing it – covering the cup will create a greenhouse effect and you’ll get moisture on your cookie, and candy
- store the decorated cups in the refrigerator

- 1 cup cold water
- 4 vanilla wafers
Beach Themed Candy Ideas
- 3 jelly beans = beach rocks

Instructions
- Prepare jello by boiling 1 cup of water
- In a heatproof pitcher or bowl with a spout – mix the Jell-O packet and 1 cup of hot water
- Whisk until powder is dissolved
- Add the cold cup of water
- Pour the blue Jell-O into the clear cups and place them in the refrigerator for the length of time it takes for the Jell-O to gel. (This might take around 4 hours)
- When the Jell-O is firm, you can start to decorate the cups. (This can be done up to a day in advance)
- In a zip tight back, use a rolling pin to crush the vanilla wafers into “sand”
- Pour the cookie sand over half of the Jell-O cups
- Add decorations to the sand, like stars, jelly beans, and a gummy bear

If you want to add the fish:
- Just before serving, use a knife to cut a slit in the blue Jell-O and push the fish in – tail first
