Cat in the Hat Craft
Supplies Needed:
I love how easy this craft is to make. When I first made this Cat in the Hat craft in 2012, Amazon was not a thing, and toilet paper tubes were not pre-painted. Now, with red tubes and white tape plus pre-cut felt circles, this craft is a breeze to make. What You’ll Love about this Dr. Seuss Craft
- It’s not only a craft but an activity. If you provide some coloring books, the kids can use their Cat in the Hat Craft to color their papers.
- This is such an easy Cat in the Hat Craft with very few supplies
Supplies You’ll Need
Red Toilet Paper Tube – I found mine at a local craft store, so if you order the ones from Amazon, then you’ll probably have a different-sized cardboard tube
White Felt Circles – These are great. You’ll have some that you don’t use, so save those for another craft
White Tape – I used white electrical tape to make the stripes on the hat
Glue – I love using a tacky clear glue called Fabri-Tac. It dries quickly and holds everything together quite well
Instructions:
You’ll first want to use the tape to make stripes on the cardboard tube. I taped two stripes, starting one inch up from the bottom of the tube and placing the other one another inch away.
Find a felt circle that is one inch wider than your toilet paper tube. My toilet paper tube is 1 & 1/2 inches wide. My felt circle is 2 & 1/2 inches wide
Glue the toilet paper tube to the felt circle
You can use these as fun Dr. Seuss party decorations or use them to hold crayons or markers for coloring fun
Expert Tips
If you can’t find the red toilet paper tubes, then you can paint a toilet paper tube red
White felt sheets can be used in place of the pre-cut circles. Cut your circles one inch wider than your tube
