Smores Party Ideas

Summer backyard parties complete with summer desserts are some of the best times in summer. There are so many memories made by sitting around the campfire and hanging out. Of course, summer wouldn’t be complete without some form of a Smore like these Smore Burritos, Cinnamon Toaster Smores, and Smore Ice Cream.

Let’s put a twist into the typical S’more and give those other candy bars a try. Make a S’mores bar, and set out a variety of chocolate bars, marshmallows, and toppings. It’s so much fun and so easy to do. This is such a great tradition to start this summer. Host backyard fire gatherings set out various Smores options, and let people get creative.

All you have to supply is the fire and the goodies. Everyone cooks their dessert, and you can sit back and enjoy the evening. It’s laid-back and casual fun that everyone will enjoy.

What You’ll Love About Hosting a Smore Party

  • It is so easy to throw together.
  • Everyone will ooh and ahh over the unique candy options. Most people have only had a classic Smore, so adding this fun twist will make their day.

Here are some Suggested Ingredients for your S’more Party

Cookies:

  • Graham Crackers – These are the classic outside cookie for making a S’more
  • Oreo Cookies – Use in place of Graham crackers for an Oreo S’more
  • Ritz Crackers – A salty twist to the classic graham cracker

Marshmallow Center

  • Marshmallows – We typically use a regular-sized marshmallow to make S’mores, but in summer, it is easy to find square marshmallows shaped just for Smores.

Candy Bars

  • Snickers – It’s no secret around my house that Snickers are my favorite, with a peanut and caramel center.
  • Almond Joy – Filled with coconut filling and almonds, this candy bar is delicious on a toasted marshmallow with a graham cracker outside.
  • Twix Candy Bars – Love the caramel and cookie center with marshmallow and graham cracker
  • York Peppermint Patties – The minty flavor is so refreshing with a toasted marshmallow and graham cracker or Oreo cookie outer covering.
  • Mounds Bars – This gives a coconut center to the Smore, one of my favorites.
  • Resees Peanut Butter Cups – Now, they have Reese’s with caramel which would be so delicious on a Smore.
  • Rolos – Delicious caramel-filled chocolates go great on Oreo Cookies, Ritz crackers, or Graham crackers with a toasted marshmallow
  • Hershey Bars – Just in case someone is committed to the traditional S’more. The typical Smore has graham crackers, toasted marshmallows, and a milk chocolate Hershey bar.

Other Fillings for Smores

  • Pecan Bits – This is a delicious filling to add to any combination of Smore.
  • Strawberries, sliced and soaked in 1-2 Tbsp of sugar to create a juicy and sugary strawberry sauce
  • Coconut Shavings

Toppings

  • Whipped Cream

Equipment

  • Smores Sticks
  • Ice Cooler – Optional, but a good idea. I used a galvanized tub and filled it with ice. This will help you keep the strawberries and chocolate chilled so they don’t melt in the summer heat.
  • Foil Pans – I used these to separate my candy bars and other fillings
  • S’mores Party Tray

Types of S’mores Party Trays

Wooden charcuterie boards, large wooden cutting boards, large serving platters, galvanized tubs. and serving carts all make great ways to serve your S’mores ingredients

How do You Host a S’mores Party?

There are so many ways you can put a Smores platter together. You can make it as casual or as fancy as you want.

Here are some ideas

Label Ingredients: I would not do this for a casual get together, but if you are having a semi-formal party then you can add some cute mini chalkboard easels to label your ingredients

Prep Smores Sticks with Marsmallows: This is not necessary for a casual backyard get together, but it is a nice touch for a nicer backyard party

Fill Containers: with candy bars and fillings or display them on a nice platter

Fill a tub with Ice: This is optional but if it is really hot outside it is a good idea

Pulling it all together:

Place ice into your tub and add your candy-filled and fruit-filled foil pans over the ice and place it in the backyard for easy access

Set out a bowl of marshmallows or your Smores sticks fitted with marshmallows and set them near the candy bars and fruit

Place a container of whipped cream into your tub of ice
