How to Make the Valentine Olaf Bowling Game
Step 1: Make Bowling Ball Finger Holes
Using a wooden dowel (about ¾ inch wide), gently push into the foam ball where fingers would normally go on a kid’s bowling ball. This creates three small indentations, making the ball easier for kids to grip and roll.

Step 2: Create Olaf’s Face
Glue the felt pieces onto each foam ball:
- Add the large white felt tooth to a larger black felt piece underneath to form Olaf’s mouth.

- Draw or paint a smile coming from the tooth.
- Dip a round sponge paintbrush into black paint and gently dot the center of each white round felt eye to create pupils.

- Glue on the round felt eye cutouts.
- Glue on brown string eyebrows and an orange foam carrot nose.

Allow the glue to fully dry before moving on.
Step 3: Decorate the Pins
Glue large foam Valentine stickers onto each paper towel roll. Hearts, Valentine words, and bright colors work great and really give the game its festive Valentine’s Day look.

Step 4: Set Up the Game
Stand the paper towel rolls upright in a triangle or straight line. Place Olaf’s head a few feet away and let kids roll it to knock down his “body” pins.

How to Play
Kids take turns rolling Olaf’s head toward the paper towel roll pins. The goal is to knock over as many Valentine pins as possible in one roll. You can:
- Play just for fun
- Count how many pins fall
- Give each child one or two turns
This game works especially well during classroom Valentine parties or as a quick indoor movement break.
Tips for Success
- Let the glue dry completely before playing to prevent pieces from popping off
- Younger kids may do better standing closer to the pins
- Place tape on the floor to mark where to stand
- Store Olaf’s head in a bin so it stays clean and reusable
Fun Variations
- Score Cards: Add simple score sheets for older kids
- Color Match: Use different Valentine sticker colors and call out which color to knock down
- Team Play: Divide kids into teams and take turns

FAQs
Is this Valentine Olaf bowling game safe for preschoolers?
Yes! Just supervise crafting and use glue carefully. Supervise play, as well.
Can I make this ahead of time?
Absolutely. The game holds up well and can be reused year after year.
What age is this best for?
Preschool through early elementary—older kids enjoy keeping score.
Can I use toilet paper rolls instead?
I would stick to paper towels. Paper towel rolls are taller and more likely to topple.
