Brats and Sauerkraut {Foil Packet} | Kid Friendly Things To Do
Brats and Sauerkraut in a foil pack that is perfect for the grill or campfire.
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Cook Time: 15 minutes
- Total Time: 20 minutes
- Yield: 4 servings 1x
Ingredients
- 4 fully-cooked bratwurst
- 4 hot dog or brat buns
- 1/3 cup of green bell pepper – chopped
- 1/4 cup of chopped sweet onion
- 1 tsp. of yellow mustard
- 1/2 tsp. of caraway seed
- 3/4 cup of drained sauerkraut
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the pepper, onion, sugar, mustard, caraway, and sauerkraut
- mix well
- cut 2 long pieces of foil – about 16 inches in length and stack them
- place the mixture into the center of the foil and add the bratwurst on top
- fold the foil into a tent pack
- Cook on the preheated grill – medium heat, above direct heat
- Close the lid and cook for about 15 minutes
- Turn brats over a couple of times during cooking
- Serve bratwurst on buns with some of the sauerkraut mixtures
Notes
Oven method – 375 degrees – bake for 20-25 minutes
Campfire – cook over hot coals on a grill – for 15- 20 minutes
In Hot Coal Embers – place double foil packet in hot embers for 15-20 minutes or until heated through
