 A coconut, and almost caramelized chewy bar is a lethal combination for me. They are  delicious and pretty much, irresistible.

The kids loved these as an after school snack. They didn’t last long on the platter. They’d also make a great party dessert. They are a lot like a brownie. Just cut into squares and watch them disappear.

Crust
  1. 1/2 cup butter - unsalted
  2. 1 tsp. salt
  3. 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  4. 1 cup of flour
Topping
  1. 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  2. 1 tsp. vanilla
  3. 2 beaten eggs
  4. 2 Tbsp. flour
  5. 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  6. 1/8 tsp. salt
  7. 1&1/2 cup of shaved coconut
  8. optional - 1/2 cup of nuts, chopped
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
  2. In a large bowl, mix the crust ingredients together and spread out into a 9x12 pan
  3. Bake the crust for 15 min.
  4. In another bowl, mix the rest of the ingredients together and spread over the baked crust
  5. Bake for another 15 minutes
  6. Let cool, and cut into bars
