Valentine’s Day Garland
Valentine’s Day comes just at the right time of year to add a pop of color to a very long and drab winter. I usually like to deck the house out with some of the kid’s Valentine’s Day Crafts from years past like cupcake paper flowers, melted crayon suncatchers, and a felt heart door hanger.
My daughter’s Kindergarten class made this garland at last year’s Valentine’s Day party. It’s so clever and simple. I love it. Use the hearts from a deck of cards and some cut-out hearts to make a beautiful garland, which is also a math activity for the kids
Supplies You’ll Need:
- Roughly five ft. of thin rope, string, or ribbon
- Eleven Heart cutouts like foam stickers with two holes punched at the top
- Deck of Cards – The hearts are taken out of a deck of cards with two holes punched at the top
Equipment Needed
hole punch
clear Scotch tape
How to Make a Simple Valentine’s Day Garland
Remove the hearts from the deck of cards to use in the garland
Prepare the cards and the hearts by punching two holes at the top of each card and heart
Wrap some tape around the end of the rope
Thread the rope through the holes in the cards and hearts like so…
- Start with a heart by threading the rope through both holes punched into the heart
- Next, thread the Ace of Hearts
- Then another heart
- Thread through the 2 of Hearts
