Make-Ahead and Storage:
How long will Chocolate Covered Strawberries Last?
Chocolate-covered strawberries last for one day at room temperature. They will last up to 2 days in the fridge, however, white chocolate will tend to bloom with sugar and you might see little white specks on the chocolate. It will taste the same but will slightly change the look of the chocolate
Tips and tricks for making these Easy Easter Treats…
- rinse and dry the strawberries. Make sure they are completely dry from water or the water might mess up your melted chocolate causing it to thicken up too much
- I have added decorations both while the chocolate is still warm and when it is cold and has completely hardened. I think that waiting until it has cooled off is my preferred method. The candy will stick a little bit faster and you won’t be left holding it until the chocolate hardens
- decorate the strawberry while it is lying down. When it has completely dried, you can set it up on the leaves to stand
- placing the strawberry chicks in the refrigerator will preserve them for a couple of days. The sugar bloom on white chocolate is a possibility (white specks). It won’t impact the flavor, just the look of the chocolate

Spring Chicks Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Equipment
- wax paper
- microwave proof glass bowl
- toothpick
Ingredients
- 12 oz. yellow chocolate melts
- 1 lb. strawberries rinsed and dried. not all strawberries will be suitable for dipping. You'll probably weed some out
- 24 blue candies for the eyes – mini M&Ms or Sixlets are great options
- orange sprinkles for the beak alternative in notes below
Instructions
- Melt your chocolate in the glass bowl – I like to pop it in the microwave for 1 minute, stir and then pop it back in for 30 more seconds
- Dip the strawberries into the bowl, spin them around to coat, and then set them on wax paper to dry
- Dip a toothpick into the melted chocolate to get some melted chocolate on the tip
- While the strawberries are upside down, use your toothpick to grab some melted chocolate and dot some melted chocolate onto the spots where the eyes and beak will go
- In no particular order…add the beak – 2 orange sprinkles in a V (the image below has a great visual for this)
- Finally, add the eyes
- Flip the strawberry around and TaDa – you have little strawberry chicks.
Notes
- *if it is a particularly warm day, your chocolate might take a little longer to harden. You might have to hold the candies in place a few seconds longer until the chocolate has cooled and thickened
