How to Make Flower Pretzels

  • Melt the chocolate in the microwave for 1 minute, stir with your spatula, and pop it back in for 30 seconds – stir until smooth.
  • Transfer your melted chocolate to your work surface
  • Set out a large sheet of wax paper
  • Gather your other supplies, pretzels, yellow chocolate melts, and fork.

Dipping the pretzels

  • Now, Place a pretzel into the chocolate and push it down with your fork, turn it around to coat it
  • Then, Use the fork to lift the coated pretzel up to the edge of the bowl

Expert Tips

You can use a lollipop stick or a wooden dowel if you don’t have a paper straw.

You can use a toothpick to scrape away any jagged chocolate edges or to poke some chocolate out of the center of a pretzel.

FAQs

Do I need to Refrigerate my Chocolate Flower Pretzels?

No. In fact, condensation from the refrigerator can cause sugar crystals to form on the outside of the pretzel as it warms to room temperature. These flower pretzels can be stored covered at room temperature for several days.

Can I make Pretzel Flowers Ahead of Time?

Yes! I love making chocolate-covered pretzels ahead of time. It frees up so much time on the day of your party, shower, or holiday celebration. Cover and store at room temperature for up to one week. Granted, the room temperature is not hot or humid. The garage is a great place to store chocolate if it is a hot summer day.

Can I Decorate My Pretzel Flowers in a Different Way?

If you don’t have yellow chocolate melts, group three yellow M&Ms in the middle of the chocolate pretzel flower

Make a bouquet with your creation. Wrap the bouquet with tissue paper and a bow to present them to mom or your special someone.

Chocolate Making Tips

How I Melt Chocolate Melts

Chocolate Seizing

Seizing is what my mom used to call overheated chocolate or chocolate that was unworkable. She’d say, the chocolate seized. Which basically meant that it was thick and impossible to use.

Causes of chocolate seizing are typically overheating the chocolate or adding liquid to the chocolate.

There is a fine balance of heating and overheating chocolate. Once you overheat it, it turns thick and worthless.

There are tricks and tips to smooth the chocolate back out, but I don’t think it really ever fully recovers. You’ll basically want to add a form of lard in the way of vegetable shortening or coconut oil. Only use a tiny little speck. Add it to the chocolate and stir in.

Storing your chocolate flowers

  • These chocolate-covered pretzels a fine set out on a platter at room temperature for a few days
  • If you want to keep them longer, place them in an airtight container with wax paper as layers between them – at room temperature.
  • These flower pretzels should last a couple of weeks.
