Caramel

  • Unsalted butter – butter mixed with brown sugar and cream will make a gooey and delicious sauce for your sticky buns.
  • Brown sugar – light brown sugar is recommended for this caramel
  • Honey – honey will bind the caramel and sweeten it
  • Whipping cream – this will thicken the caramel sauce and make it a delicious creamy caramel
  • Sea Salt – salted caramel is a delicious flavor. Not only does the salt balance the sweet caramel, but it gives you a salted caramel taste that is irresistible
  • Chopped pecans – pecans are a staple in sticky buns

Rolls

  • Crescent Rolls – making sticky buns with refrigerated crescent roll dough is a huge time saver.
  • Unsalted Butter – softened
  • Light Brown Sugar – light brown sugar blended with cinnamon will be your filling.
  • Ground Cinnamon – cinnamon adds a warm and comforting flavor to sticky buns.

Caramel Sauce

  • Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan
  • Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add the sugar, honey, whipping cream, and a couple of dashes of salt.
  • Bring to a boil, and then quickly reduce to a simmer – stirring for about 3 minutes
  • Pour sauce into a greased baking pan
  • Sprinkle chopped pecans over the caramel sauce

How to Make Sticky Buns

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit

Caramel Sauce

  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter
  • Add the sugar, honey, whipping cream, and salt

  • Bring to a boil, and quickly reduce the heat so it is at a simmer
  • Simmer for about three minutes
  • Pour the caramel sauce into the greased baking pan
  • Sprinkle crushed pecans over the sauce

Rolls

  • Roll out the crescent roll packages and mold them into one big rectangle.

  • Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough
  • In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon
  • Sprinkle it over the butter

  • Along the long side, roll the crescent rolls up into one long tube
  • Cut the tube into twelve rolls

Expert Tip

Do not wait too long for the buns to cool off before inverting the pan. The caramel might harden up and make it more difficult to remove the sticky buns.
