Pesto Dip Ingredients

The great thing about this dip is that it only has five ingredients. The base is the cream cheese and sour cream mixture. Add the cheese for that warm, comfort food with a cheesy feel, and pesto fills in the rest. You won’t be measuring out spices for this dip. The basil pesto does all of that for you.

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • Cream Cheese – cream cheese provides the cream base for this pesto dip.
  • Sour Cream—Sour cream not only adds flavor and more creaminess, but it also thins out the cream cheese to make it easy to dip into.
  • Mozzarella Cheese – This cheese is famously gooey on pizzas and provides the same texture in this dip.
  • Parmesan Cheese – Parmesan cheese adds a deep sharp cheese taste to this dip and pairs well with all of the other cheeses
  • Prepared Pesto – I used a rustic prepared pesto that I found at Walmart.

FAQs

What is a Good Garnish for this Basil Pesto Dip?

Chopped fresh basil, pine nuts, and more pesto.

What Should I Use to Dip into this Pesto Dip?

Veggies – Like carrots, celery sticks, Bell Peppers

Bread – A sliced baguette would be perfect with this dip

Crackers – Butter crackers are a nice contrast to the saltiness of this dip

Pita Chips – I would stay away from salty pita chips. The basil pesto and cheese provide enough salt.

Pita Bread – Slice up some pita bread or see if you can find some pita bread dippers, which are cut-up pieces of baked pita bread for dipping

Is Pesto Dip Healthy?

Pesto has many nutritional qualities from pine nuts, olive oil, and basil. That being said, it is higher in fat content so use it sparingly.

Flavor Variations

Sub in your favorite creamy cheese for mozzarella like ricotta, provolone, or a blend of Italian cheese

For a little spice kick, add pepperjack cheese to the blend of cheeses

Fold in Pine nuts for a little crunch

Reheating and Storage

Store this Pesto Dip in the fridge for up to 3 days

Reheat by covering with foil and baking it until warmed through or microwave it on high for about one minute
