Oreo Cookie Pancakes
These Oreo Pancakes were one of our breakfasts for dinner (dinners). It was one of those times when I didn’t know what to make my family, and I thought, why not chocolate chip pancakes? Then, I discovered that I was out of chocolate chips. With no chocolate chips to add to my pancake batter, I reached for the Oreo Cookies, crumbled them up, and folded them into the batter. The kids were thrilled with our new fun pancakes. Typically, during the week we like breakfast on the run like a Blueberry Breakfast Smoothie, or this healthy Green Smoothie. During the holidays we always go for the classic Crockpot Breakfast Casserole. However, sometimes we like to mix things up and have a little fun with our breakfast like with these delicious Oreo Pancakes.
This site is not stranger to the Oreo Cookie. I have several Oreo Cookie treats that I’ve shared throughout the years like Oreo Turkeys, Oreo Cookie Frogs, and Love Bug Oreos.
Ingredients You’ll Need for Oreo Pancakes
- egg
- milk – I would use 2% or whole milk
- melted butter – you can substitute cooking oil, but butter is preferred for flavor and fat
- vanilla extract
- flour
- sugar
- baking powder
- salt
- Oreo Cookies – crushed
How to Make Oreo Pancakes
Whisk the egg, milk, butter (or oil), and vanilla extract in a medium mixing bowl.
Over the wet ingredients, add flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Lightly whisk the dry ingredients before mixing them fully into the wet ingredients so the baking powder can be dispersed
Place Oreo Cookies into a large zip-tight bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
Fold the Oreo Cookies into the batter.
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add some butter to the warm skillet to melt.
Scoop 1/4 cup of batter over the butter and spread into a circle.
Cook each side for about three minutes on one side, then flip. Continue to cook for a couple of more minutes until the pancakes are golden brown and cooked through.
Tips for Oreo Pancakes
Use a non-stick skillet or iron skillet to make pancakes
Add a little butter to the skillet before your first batch of pancakes and more as needed
Pancakes are ready to flip when little bubbles start to form, and the edges are set
Keep pancakes warm in a low-temperature oven while you make the rest
FAQs
Can You Freeze Pancakes?
Yes. Pancakes are a great candidate for the freezer. Place pancakes into a freezer bag with wax paper between them. Freeze for up to one month. When you are ready to eat your pancakes, microwave them for about 30 seconds until warmed through.
Quick Tip
This is a thick batter, so you will want to cook them low and slow. Turn the heat down a bit and let them cook longer so the middle cooks through
